Program Description: Our physical balance is an important part of our daily lives… We challenge our balance every time we rise from a chair, every time we take a step, when we reach to pick something up, and during all variety of activities. This class will explore the benefits of yoga for improving balance through gentle movement. We will experiment with using props to assist with modifications to ensure safety, and we’ll learn how we can improve our form, or posture, to ensure better stability in our day-to-day existence. We’ll also consider the coexistence of the mind-body connection with balance and stability. Yoga is also known to provide such physical benefits as increased muscle tone, improved mobility and flexibility of the joints, and enhanced coordination. Wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and bring a bottle of water.
